Kidney is a vital organ system of the body. As a human filter it cleans water, toxins from the blood, controls blood pressure and stimulates RBC production. Studies suggest every year due to negligence lots of people suffer from kidney related issues. There are some very basic natural ways to take care of kidneys in the natural way.

Water: Earth is named blue planet because of water being present here. In daily humdrums of life we do not consume required litres of water. In due course of time leads to constipation and kidney stones. One should consume at least 3 litres of water everyday.

Cabbage for phytochemicals: Cabbage is good for kidneys health to fight the radicals present with its anti oxidant properties. Cabbage helps in reducing the risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease, and renal dysfunction.

Onions: Some love it some don’t because of its pungent smell. Onions are a rich source of flavonoids and quercetin preventing the deposition of fatty material in the blood vessels. Quercetin is an antioxidant that can reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer. Onions are kidney’s friend and low in potassium. They also contain chromium that helps metabolize fats, proteins, and carbohydrates.

Garlic is said to be good for heart and joints with its herbal properties. Garlic added to food brings flavour to the dish. It has pungent taste which adds a zing to the taste. It’s used universally for various palates and dishes. Garlic juice and oil has medicinal value for treating kidney stones.

Cauliflower: Is high source of fibre, folate and vitamin C. It has a compound which helps as a natural neutraliser of toxins present in the body. Cauliflower is kidney friendly and used in multiple forms to be added in food.

Cranberries: Cranberry juice is used universally for urinary tract infections (UTI). Due to its anti-bacterial properties it kills the growth of any bacteria in kidney or the digestive tracts. Some research claims that cranberries are capable of treating calcium oxalate kidney stones. Its juice or consumption like a fruit exhilarates kidney’s performance. Over dose is not recommended.

Raspberries: Love the colour, texture, taste and shape of the fruit. Use it as a dressing, fruit salad, shake or juice it has nutritional value packed in it. Ellagic acid present the fruit combat radicals present in the blood to purify. Improving heart and kidney function and bringing the system to its optimum level. It’s a must to be consumed in its season.

Blueberries reduce inflammation and clean toxins from the body. You can add them in salads, fruits, shakes and juices. They are a good source if you are looking for some weight loss. Add them in your porridge or oats for a healthy breakfast packed with nutrients.
